Betty R. Blackwell, 88, of White Hall passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2014. She was born in Enterprise, West Virginia on August 25, 1926. She was the daughter of the late Harry and Ruth Matheny. She was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Blackwell Sr., a son, James (JC) Blackwell, Jr.; three brothers, Wayne, John, and Ronnie Matheny, and six sisters, Elaine Holbert, Phyllis Cain, Gayle Ferrogiari, June Smith, Ethel Keller and Alberta Matheny, son-in-law, Shorty Hunt, grandson, Glenn Hunt and granddaughter, Sheri Ford. Betty is survived by four children, Ruth Hunt of Crozet, Billy Blackwell and his wife Debbie of Free Union, Mary Ellen Ford and her husband Keith of Blackwells Hollow, Crystal Pace and her husband Todd of Troy, and daughter-in-law, Lynn Blackwell of New York. Betty had eleven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. She leaves behind a number of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Hospice House on Park Street for their love and special care they gave Betty.

There will be a graveside service held at 11:00 am, Saturday, December 13, 2014 at the Sandridge Cemetery in White Hall, Virginia.
