Bland Massie Martin, Jr, 82, was born on 9/04/1942 in Norwood, Va (Nelson County) to Bland M. and Lucy Jane Martin. He went home to be with the Lord on June 18, 2025. Preceded in death by his siblings Pete, Fred, Lila, Russell, Elizabeth, Shirley, Linwood, Robert, Nancy and Birdie.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years Brenda Canody Martin, children Sandra Martin McDaniel (Tim) and Chadwick Bland Martin, one sister Gladys Jeanette Martin of Bowling Green, KY., five grandchildren Bradley (Rebecca), Raleigh, Steven, Mary and Adrianna, and four great grandchildren Tayler, Savannah, Harvey and Weston. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bland was an elevator mechanic at ConAgra and Perdue Foods. For many years, he worked two or three jobs simultaneously to get ahead in life. He was an entrepreneur and created two local businesses .. a transportation business and local trash service.  He also worked for Albemarle County Transportation Dept as a local school bus driver where he was affectionately known as "Brandy". He wore many "hats"... husband, father, grandfather, friend and neighbor.

He definitely new God and Jesus Christ, and he gave God the credit for helping him throughout his life.

A celebration of life service will be held Friday, June 20th, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at the Hillsboro Baptist Church, 6406 Hillsboro Lane, Crozet, Va.  Pastor Jimmy D. Temple will be officiating.  There will be a reception and fellowship at the church following the service.
