Daniel Meade Ballard passed away on Monday January 27, 2025 at the age of 64. He was born and raised in Charlottesville Virginia on January 12,1961, where he lived until 2008 when he had the opportunity to move to Western Albemarle County. He had a love for all animals. He had dogs, cows, goats and a cat.

The legacy he left will be remembered by all as he never met a stranger. He was known to many as "Duke", "Milk Man" and would lend his hand to anybody. He was always full of useless information and enjoyed History. He also enjoyed coaching Flag football, coaching Baseball for McIntire Little League, hunting, fishing and metal detecting.

He was employed by The University of Virginia where he was employed for 17 years as a Lead Mason Plasterer.

He is preceded in death by his Mother, Virginia Cameron Payne and his Father, John Marshal Ballard.

He is survived by his wife Margaret Hicks Ballard of 36 years, their children John-Daniel Ballard(Hunter), Jennifer Leandra Ballard(Justin) and his 4 grandchildren Leandra Pritchett, Faith Pritchett, Coltynn Pritchett, Jesse Pritchett, his brother David L. and wife Jodie Marks Ballard and several nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Funeral Arrangements will be held at Mountain Plain Baptist Church Cemetary, Crozet Virginia, on February 1, 2025 at 11:00 am with Rev. David Collier from Crozet Baptist Church officiating.

The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at the University of Virginia Hospital and a Hospice of the Piedmont for the care and compassion that was received.
