Doris McCauley Fitzgerald, 86, of Greenwood, VA died at her residence on March 22, 2015. She was born on February 19, 1929 in Albemarle County to the late Vivian L. McCauley and Virginia Payne McCauley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter (Mac) Fitzgerald, a brother, Pete McCauley, grandson, Taylor Phelps, and a son-in-law, Joe Pirkey.

She is survived by three daughters, Gail Taylor and husband Jeff of Lynchburg, VA, Marilyn Burruss and husband Larry of Charlottesville, VA, Teresa Pirkey of Crozet, VA; a sister, Shirley Cook of Crozet, VA; brothers, Lynnwood McCauley of Tallahassee, Florida, Irv McCauley of Armington, Illinois; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Doris retired from the Albemarle County School System as a secretary at Brownsville Elementary School. She was a member of Hillsboro Baptist Church for over sixty years.

Family suggest that memorial contributions be made to the charity of your choice.

A funeral service will be held at Hillsboro Baptist Church at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, March 25, 2015. Family will receive friends at the church from 1-3 pm before the service. Interment will follow at Hillsboro Cemetery. Rev. Pete Hartwig will officiate.
