Earnest Lee Goolsby, Sr. 74, of Afton, died at his residence on January 8, 2013. He was born in Albemarle County to the late, Robert M. Goolsby and Myrtle Mawyer Goolsby. He was preceded in death by his sister, Alice Goolsby.
He is survived by his wife, Athalene Goolsby of Afton; two sons, Earnest Goolsby, Jr. and wife Joanne, of Crimora, VA, Tony Goolsby and wife, Carolyn of Afton; one brother, Jack Goolsby and wife, Audrey of Afton, VA.; four grandchildren, Travis, Amanda, Rachel, and Eric Goolsby; two great-grandchildren, Matthew and Zoey, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was a farmer, worked at Morton Frozen Foods in Crozet and retired after twenty-three years from VDOT.

Family will receive friends at the Anderson Funeral Home from 6-8 on Thursday, January 10, 2013.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, January 11, 2013 at Mount Ed Baptist Church in Batesville, VA, with Dr. Ronald Nickell officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
