Eleanor Varn Finger (Nell), born November 10, 1923 in Cumberland, Virgnia,died peacefully on August 3, 2013 in Charlottesville, Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Whitney Finger, and her son, Allen. She is survived by her children Tom, Elizabeth, Bill, Eleanor, and Louise, but Nell defined family broadly, and her openness and generosity led to many calling her mom. She always considered her children's partners, Simone, Kerry, Shellie, Kim and chuck as her own children. The love for her grandchildren, Jennifer, Adrienne, Matthew, Sean, Clay, Amelia, Mackenzie, Jacen, Eleanor, Liam, Tatum, Drew and Ellie, and great-grandchildren Alayna, Riley, Jacob, and Abigail was boundless. Nell also leaves a void in the lives of her brothers Bill and Charlie, sister Rosalie, many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and close friends.

Nell attended Longwood Teachers College, studied painting and ceramics for decades, notably watercolor with Eliot O'Hara, and taught art to people of all ages. She spent most of her life in Charlottesville, and along with her husband Frank, touched the lives of many in the community. Nell never met a stranger,\. She will greatly missed and forever remembered by friends and family.

Please join in a celebration of the life of Eleanor (Nell) Varn Finger on Saturday, August 10th at 11:00 AM at Greencroft Club. Greencroft is located at 575 Rodes Drive on 250 West.
