Horris Dabney Stephens, 89, died at a local nursing home on Sunday, March 20, 2016. He was born on March 27, 1926, the son of the late Joseph W. and Mary Maude Stephens. He was preceded in death by one precious son, Horace Wayne Stephens and six brothers, Ernest, Joseph, George, Horsley, Walter, and Harvey Stephens, four sisters, Mary Thacker, Lillian Martin, Ida Benninghoe, and Margaret Burnley.

He is survived by his wife of sixty one years, Arbutus Morris Stephens, one son, William F. Stephens and his wife, Lynda, daughter-in-law, Patricia Stephens and friend Marlin, one sister, Blanch Poe,five grandchildren, Ahren Foster, and husband Ryan, Patrick Stephens and wife, Jackie, Meghan Stephens, Lauren Stephens, and friend, Eric and Carson Stephens and fiancee Mattie, two great grandchildren, Addison Foster, Hudson Foster, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Horris served his country in both the US Navy and the United States Marine Corp. He worked thirty-two years at Delmonte and retired as a maintenance supervisor. After retirement he continued working for Crown Orchard Company.

The Family will receive friends at the Anderson Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 from 6-8 pm.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday,March 23, 2016 at Holly Memorial Gardens in Charlottesville, VA with Rev. David Collyer officiating.
