Obituary

Janice Obra Burgess Wade, 89, of Batesville, Virginia peacefully transitioned to heaven on Wednesday, June 1, 2022.
Born in Batesville, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Rosebud Mawyer Burgess and late Willie Burgess, Sr. She
was also affectionately known as Nannie by her family.
Janice was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd E. "Pluto/Pawpaw" Wade, Sr. Janice and Pluto were married for 56
years, until his death in 2007. She was also preceded in death by her five brothers and two sisters. Janice's four-legged
and loyal companion, Baylee, also predeceased her.
Janice is survived by her son, Boyd E. "Butch" Wade, Jr. and his wife, Dale, of Batesville, VA; two daughters Bonnie Wade
Reynolds and her husband, David, of Gordonsville, VA; and Martha Wade of Batesville, VA. She also valued her
friendship with Everett Shannon "Buddy" Mawyer, Jr.
Janice is also survived by two grandchildren Emily R. Sears, and her husband of Crestwood, KY; and Phillip W. Reynolds,
and his wife, Kristen of Chesterfield, VA. She also celebrated the continued blessings of five great-grandchildren Josie,
Caroline, Wade, Eleanore and Weston.
Janice was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She worked for Albemarle County
Schools for over 25 years. Her talents in the kitchen provided enough food at each meal to feed many mouths several
times over. Her macaroni and cheese, as well as her pound cakes, were noteworthy and shared by many. Her love and
devotion to her family and friends will be painfully missed.
The family kindly requests that donations be made to Hospice of the Piedmont (hopva.org) 675 Peter Jefferson Parkway,
Suite 300, Charlottesville, VA 22911; or North Garden Volunteer Fire Company (ngvfc.org) 4907 Plank Road, North
Garden, VA 22959-0033. Please consider honoring Janice in this manner so that other families may be blessed with the
compassionate care provided by both organizations.
Burial will be private per Janice's request. A family celebration of her life will take place at a later date.
