Joan H. Grissinger, 80, died on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 in the comfort of her Crozet, Virginia home.

She was born on October 28, 1932, in Albemarle County, the daughter of the late Emmett Hite, Sr. and Ruby Currier Hite. In addition to both parents, Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Grissinger, Jr.; three sisters, Hazel E. Hite, Dorothy E. Herman and Barbara Hite Reid; two brothers, Emmett Hite, Jr. and Raymond Hite.

She is survived by one uncle, William "Bill" Currier of Charlottesville, Virgnia; one niece, Ann Carnifax of Williamsburg, Virginia; and seven nephews, Mike Herman of Olathe, Kansas, Randy Hite of Faber, Virginia, Robert Hite of Gloucester, Virginia, Tony Reid of Nelson County, Virginia; Larry Dance, Robert Morris and Earl Morris. She is also survived by six geat nieces; two great-nephews; several great-great nieces and nephews and cousins.

Graveside service will be held 11 a.m., Friday, October 4, 2013, at Holly Memorial Gardens, Charlottesville, Virginia

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Parkway, Suite 300, Charlottesville, VA 22911.
