John "Johnny" Cephas Reynolds, 87, of Crozet Virginia, formerly of Greensboro, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home on July 17, after a short courageous battle with multiple myeloma.
Johnny was born on May 18, 1938 to Ralph and Frances in Greensboro, North Carolina. After graduating from Pleasant Garden High School, Johnny enlisted in the United States Navy. A twenty year career in the navy was followed up by his employment with the United States Postal Service until 1991.
Johnny is survived by his wife of 66 years, Brenda Beal Reynolds, sister, Sue Reynolds Byron of Murrells Inlet, SC, sons, Allen Reynolds (Cheryl) of McGaheysville, VA and Scott Reynolds (Linda) of Fredericksburg, VA, grandchildren Parker Reynolds (Savannah) of Lexington, KY, Reilly Reynolds of Martinez, CA and Jansen Reynolds of Fredericksburg, VA, and a great granddaughter, Gemma Reynolds of Lexington, KY. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Wayne Reynolds.
Johnny was a man of many stories and loved gardening. When he shared those stories at family gatherings, laughter could be heard all the way to Batesville. His gardening skills were envied by many. Growing tomatoes was his specialty and he was known as the, "tomato man of Midway."
The family will receive friends at Anderson Funeral Home in Crozet, VA on Monday, July 21 from 2-4. A private service will be held in Greensboro, NC.
