Martha Louise Johnson, 93, of Crozet passed away peacefully at the Hospice House, surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, May 10, 2014. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.
Born April 24, 1921 in Greenwood, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Sandy Alexander Gibson and Hardy Brown Gibson. Martha was a member of Mt. Ed. Baptist Church in Batesville, Virinia where she faithfully served the Lord for many years. She lived her life for Jesus and her family. She retired from ConAgra in Crozet after 25 years of service.
Martha is survived by her four children; one daughter, Rebecca Wellcome and her husband, Bob of Huntingtown, Maryland; her son John Mitchell Johnson, Jr. and wife Jean of Crozet, her son Russell Andrew Johnson and wife Susan of Crozet; her daughter Linda Shifflett and husband Gerald of Afton, Virginia. "Praise goes to John and Jean for being fantastic caregivers the last ten years. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 3 great -great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Mitchell Johnson; her grandson, Michael Johnson, her great granddaughter, Amber Johnson and her great-grandson, Blake Shifflett, also preceding were four sisters and four brothers as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm on Tuesday, on May 13, 2014 at Anderson Funeral Home in Crozet.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at Mt. Ed Baptist Church in Batesville, Virginia with interment to follow at Rockgate Cemetery in Crozet, VA. The services will be officiated by Pastor Dwayne(Chock) Johnson and Dr. Ronald Nickell.
