Obituary

Norma Jane Dukes Wood, age 83, passed away in Crozet, on Monday, June 23,2014.

She was born April 9, 1931, in Wilmington, Delaware, and was the daughter of Roland Edward Dukes and Manita Breeding Dukes.

She was predeceased by an infant sister, Betty Elaine; a brother, Paul Edward. She was also predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Eddie L. Wood; and by six brothers-in-law and their wives, Ervin and Ruth, Thomas and Louise, Stuart and Virginia, Fulton and Ellen, Kenneth and Ann, Dan and Catherine; and by a sister-in-law, and her husband, Lucille Willis and Morrison.

Survivors are her two daughters, Paula Welch and husband, Peter, of Albemarle County and Trinlie Wood of Madison County.

She is also survived by five grandchildren, Erie, Adam, Amber, Chase and Dos; and two great-grandcildren, Micah and Mollie, all of whom she loved very much. Other survivors include her sister-in-law, Jo Lee Hanger. of Staunton; as well as many nieces and nephews and cousins.

Norma grew up in Maryland, and attended Madison Coll
ege (now James Madison University) where she met Eddie. They married on May 2, 1950, in Maryland. Norma taught music for more than 30 years and was the accompanist for Adult Choir at Crozet Baptist Church for 30 years.

A memorial servicec will be held t 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at Crozet Baptist Church with the Reverend David Collyer officiating, followed by a reception in the fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers memorial donation mat be made to Crozet Baptist Church Music Program.
