Raymond Carroll Conley, 71, of Batesville, VA was called to his heavenly home on February 27, 2016. He was born on May 18, 1944 in Charlottesville, VA to the late Junie Conley and Ethel McAllister Conley. Carroll was preceded in death by his brother, Roy L. Conley.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Dyer Conley; one daughter, Candie C. Maupin and husband Mike Maupin of Lynchburg, VA; and one son, R.C. Conley, Jr. and wife, Sandy Conley of Nellysford, VA He is also survived by special sister-in-laws, Doris Grimm and Savannah Conley; special brother and sister-in-law Eric L. and Vi Dyer; three granddaughters, Nicole Taylor and husband Drew Taylor, Abby Conley, and Samantha Maupin, one grandson Brooks Conley, and many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was employed by S. W. Barnes Lumber Company for twenty years as a truck driver, kiln manager, and sales manager. He was owner of J. Bruce Barnes, Inc. for twenty-six years. Carroll was past president of Crozet Loyal Order of the Moose, co-director and coach of the Crozet Boxing Club, and past president of the Crozet Lions Club. He was a member of Appalachian Hardwood Manufacturers Association and the Wood Products Manufacturers Association, past president of the Lumber Trade Association and a member of the Crozet Business Association. He also was a coach for the Red Sox Little League and
Junior League baseball teams, an honorary member of the Crozet Fire Department and a member of Crozet Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to Crozet Baptist Church, Crozet Volunteer Fire Department, Peachtree Baseball League of Albemarle, Hospice of the Piedmont or a charity of your choice.
Family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Monday, February 29, 2016 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Crozet, VA.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at the Crozet Baptist Church with the Rev. David Collyer officiating.
