BUCHANAN:  Richard Donald Buchanan, Sr., born, January 13, 1931, Coatesville, Pa; died, September 23, 2022, Crozet, Va.  He was the son of Ashton Talbot Buchanan, Sr. and Edith Florence Buchanan (nee Reel), and brother of Ashton Talbot Buchanan, Jr.

Richard (Dick) lived a life of great faith, love, and joy and was devoted to his wife and family. His belief and trust in God was humbly present throughout his life's journey.  Early on, Dick developed a love of airplanes and as a corporate pilot he made flying his career.

Dick was preceded in death by his wife Lucy Jane Buchanan (nee Brown), two sons, Richard Donald Buchanan, Jr. and James Warren Buchanan, and his daughter, Melanie Buchanan Mohan.  He is survived by daughter Cindy Buchanan Whiton (Bruce) and children, Joseph Buchanan Whiton (Kim), Katherine Keebler Zemaitis (Thomas), and by daughter Carol Buchanan Morano (Thomas) and children, Olivia Hartman Morano and Gillian Buchanan Morano, and by son-in-law, John and children, Helen Clara Mohan and Lidia Ruth Mohan.

A service and celebration of his life will be held Saturday, October 8, 2022 at 1:00pm; Crozet United Methodist Church, Crozet, Virginia.
