Thomas V. Farrell, 88, of Afton, Virginia passed away while working on his farm Monday afternoon June 23rd . He was born in Washington DC in 1925. After serving in the Marine Corps Tom graduated from UC Berkley with a BS in agriculture.
He was the son of Maj. Gen. Walter Greatsinger Farrell and Francis Vail Farrell and brother Patrick G. Farrell that are diseased. His living sister Mickey Farrell resides in La Jolla California. He moved to Albemarle County in 1957 when he bought Huntingfield Farm and lived until his passing. Tom was best known as a committed science teacher to many children at St. Annes Belfield from 1963-1977.
Tom met the love of his life (Diana Weeks) on a business trip to Paris. They were married on Valentines Day 1955.
He is survived by five children, Lilli Farrell, Thomas (Paddy) Farrell Jr., Diana Farrell, Peter Farrell and Michael Farrell. His grandchildren are Andrew Robb, Nick Farrell, Olivia Farrell and Edi Farrell.
Tom had a love for farming and animals and was a steward of the land. He was an avid sportsman a passion which he passed down to his children and grandchildren. He had a particularly adventurous spirit, and loved polo, foxhunting, skiing, windsurfing, surfing, hang gliding,
