Obituary

Alice Verlin Cook Gough Funkhouser, 92, of Crozet, died at the Blue Ridge Adult Care Home in Crozet on May 23, 2013. She was born in Scottsville, Virginia on June 22, 1920 to the late Daniel Houston Cook and Zelma E. Dedrick Cook. She was preceeded in death by her first husband, James W. Gough and her second husband, Blair A. Funkhouser; two brothers, Carl Cook, Winn H. Cook; two sisters, Dolly McPherson and Mabel Soper, and son-in-law, Robert Gunter.

She is survived by three daughters, Janice G. Gunter, Peggy G. Shiflett and her husband Grady L. Lindley Gough all of Crozet; three sons, James Russell Gough and wife Alice of Crozet, Robert H. Gough and wife Judy of Charlottesville, Jerry W. Gough of New Orleans, Louisana; Five Step-children, Nancy F. Via and husband Dabney, Elaine F. Layman, and husband Tony, Debra F. Smith and husband James, Gary Funkhouser and wife Carolyn, and Joseph Funkhouser, and wife Barbara; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren, and fourteen step-great grandchildren, and one sister, Gladys Murray, and many nieces and nephews.

Our family would like to express our appreciation to the Blue Ridge Adult Care Home (formerly Gibson Adult Care Home) of Crozet, for their constant professional loving care; Mary Ann Gibson, Selma Gutshall, Becky Sadler, Linda McDaniel, Kartherine Moore, Hailey Mawyer, and Smantha Carver.

She was very active member of the Crozet United Methodist Church, a member of the Choir and 60 years, and in the Rebecca Circle.

Family will receive friends at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel from 6-8 on Monday, May 27, 2013.

Funeral service will be held at the Crozet United Methodist Church in Crozet, on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at 12:00 noon, with Rev. Doug Forrester and Rev. David Rash officiating.

A private buriel will be before the service at Holly Memorial Gardens in Charlottesville.

Anderson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
