Virginia "Mae" Maupin, 90, of Crozet, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2026, in Crozet, Virginia.

Born on July 7, 1935, to Percy and Nellie Clements Fitzgerald, Virginia was one of nine children and was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, and three sisters.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Bill Maupin of Crozet, and by two sons-in-law, Willie Snow and Dannie Russell.
Virginia is survived by her children: • Teresa Maupin Snow • Deborah Maupin Snow and her husband, Tony Wyant • Michael Maupin and his wife, Candace Conley Maupin and Anita Maupin Russell. She is also survived by a special granddaughter she raised as her own, Elizabeth Seal Matheny.

Her grandchildren—Angelique Seal, Brian Snow, Nikki Maupin Taylor, Samantha Maupin Dawson, Rhett Russell, and Andrew Russell (who was her undeniable favorite, and everyone lovingly accepted that)—brought her endless joy.

Virginia reveled in being "Great Grandma" to nine great-grandchildren and "Great-Great Grandma" to seven.

She is also survived by her longtime companion, Theodore Campbell. Together they shared many adventures, laughter, and cherished moments.

Virginia worked for Central Telephone Company (Centel) in Charlottesville, VA, for 28 years. Centel was more than a workplace to her—it was a community where coworkers felt like friends and often like family. Her daughters also worked there, creating even more shared memories.
