Wayne Dale "Poppy" Fisher, 65,of Crozet, passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at his home surrounded by his family. Wayne was the third of five children born to Woodrow D. Fisher. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his father and mother-in-law, William I. and Anna B. Shifflett.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife, Velma Fisher; and three daughters, Selena L. Fisher of Crozet, Rebecca "Becky" Fisher and her husband, Brian Haney, of Charlottesville, and April F. Johnson and her husband, O.J. Johnson, of Waynesboro. He also leaves behind six precious grandchildren, Brandon Scott Haney "Peepy", Tiffany Amber Marshall "Tilly", Seth Aaron Marshall "Zeth", Brianna Nicole Haney "Breezy", Kiyah Elizabeth Johnson "Little One", and Nathaniel Lee Gutshall "Nat", and two step grandchildren, Ryan and Tyler Johnson. He is also survived by three brothers, Woodrow "WH" Fisher of Crozet, David Fisher and his wife, Linda, of Lovingston, and Sammy Fisher of Crimora; one sister, Judy F. Hicklin and her husband, Roger, of Stuarts Draft; a brother-in-law, Delmas Shifflett and his wife, Opal, of Boonesville; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins that he loved dearly.
The family would like to thank, among many others in the Crizet community, Hospice and a very special friend, David "Earl" Snow for their support and kindness.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2016, at the Anderson Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 6, 2016, at Rockgate Cemetery in Crozet with the Reverend David Collyer officiating.
"You may be out of our sight, but you will never be out of our hearts. We may not see your face, but we will always see your smile. We will never hear your voice again, but we will hear your whisper in our ear. One day we will meet again at Heaven's Gates and we will be with you once again, but this time it will be for Eternity."
