Obituary

William Davis Miller, (Bill) 81, of Charlottesville died at the Hospice House in Charlottesville on August 27, 2014. He was born on September 21, 1932 in Charlottesville, VA, the son, of the late William Gardner Miller and Gladys H. Miller. He was also preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Carrie Miller.

Bill is survived by his wife of 55 years, Katharine Miller, four children Kathryn M. Woodson and husband Barry, Sue M. Clemmer and husband Danny, Troy G. Miller and wife Lisa and Carrie Lynn Mereen and husband Jim; two sisters, Norma Stone of Roanoke, VA and Betty Miller of Stafford, Virginia; 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Anyone who knew Pop would tell you that there wasn't a harder working, more loving and utterly hilarious man. He was a Korean War Veteran, but was so humble he seldom spoke of it. Those that love him know that this is not goodbye, this is only see you later.

Bill was a member of the Hinton Avenue United Methodist Church, retired from Stone and Webster Corp and worked part-time at the Hinton Avenue United Methodist Church.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the Hospice of the Piedmont and the Hospice House for the loving and wonderful care that they gave to Bill during his illness.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, on Monday, September 1, 2014 at Hinton Avenue Methodist Church in Charlottesville, VA with Rev Edward Hopkins and Rev. Robert Lewis will be officiating. At Bill's request he was cremated and his ashes will be buried at his grandmother grave at Rockgate Cemetery in Crozet, VA with Military honors.
